Welcome to the first entry in my blog. This site is completely powered by Blosxom, which is a small and very clever Perl script for running weblogs. It is based on a flat-file organisation, with all the entries stored as simple text files in a hierarchical directory structure. The entries are then displayed in a template, which is what you are looking at now. I really like this way of working – it is much easier to manage than a database system for something as simple as a blog. The script is highly extensible because it has a comprehensive plugin architecture.
So, have a look around the site. There isn’t much here at the moment, but I will be updating often (hopefully). I have promised myself to only post things which have a chance of being interesting to other people – you won’t find any “Today I got up, had a shower and went to the shops” posts here. Well.. not many!
