Saturday night was the annual GASFest event, a large meet-up of guitarists from the Intermusic Guitarist Forum, at the Rotunda Centre in Bristol. There were about 60 people there to take turns performing, watching, and drinking lots of beer. It was very weird meeting people who were previously only known by their cryptic online handle, but everyone was extremely nice and friendly, and there are some seriously talented players who showed off their skills on the stage. The event is to raise money for the Drake Music Project, a charity who allow physically disabled people to make music using various clever bits of technology. Over 1000 was raised on the night, and if that’s not a good way to spend a Saturday evening then I don’t know what is.
