Back in Manchester
September 18, 2005 in Life | Add CommentI am now back in Manchester after my extremely long summer holiday. Very little interesting happened so I had nothing to write about, hence the lack of updates (I’m sure no one reads this anyway). I got a job and worked for two months, did two weeks of jury service, and slept a lot - that’s about it.
This week is Freshers Week, but as I’m starting my third year of my course, they don’t give us much slack to enjoy ourselves. I have lectures every day, which give us introductory information and guidelines about our upcoming Third Year Project. I’ll also have some work to do such as an essay and a poster outlining the aims of the project. I’m sure I’ll find some time to fit a few drinks in there as well..
In other news, I have moved over to the dark side. I have been getting more and more annoyed with Windows over the summer, and Linux still doesn’t really work properly on my laptop, and it’s not quite ready for the desktop yet in my opinion, although it’s not far off.
So,Yesterday I bought myself an Apple Mac. It’s a 20″ screen IMac model, with a 2Ghz G5 PowerPC processor. I upgraded the RAM to 1.5Gb. I’m absolutely loving OSX - it really is the “best operating system in world”. It also comes with Garageband, which looks like it will be perfect for my basic recording needs.
I haven’t been so happy with my everyday computing experience in quite some time.
