Hi All,

I wanted to contribute to this posting. Even though it did not solve my problem it stimulated my thinking apparatus in such a way that I arrived at solution.

I was having a rather weird issue:

I have been using my macbook in lid-closed mode with a bluetooth keyboard, laser mouse and apples VGA adapter for sometime when a very peculiar thing happened.

When closing the lid and then hitting the space bar on my keyboard a promising blue screen pos up but then the scteen goes black and stays there. Stranger still when I flip up the lid even the 13" lcd remains black until I unplug the external adapter. With the lid up and plugging the adapter back in no problem ... good vid on both. Close the lid same problem again.

I tried a variety of physical and non physical manoeuvres to no avail.

I started thinking maybe its a video buffer thing... but how can I tweak that.

With the lid up and the LCD TV used as a mirror I ran Unreal Tournament then quit it. I closed the lid then tapped my spacebar..

Presto issue resolved

I have no idea why this really worked but I thought if there is anyone else out there having the same problem they might appreciate this.

I suppose any video game would whack the video cards buffer, no need to rush out and buy Unreal even if it is a lot of fun.

Cheers

Anyone else having issues with images rolling on the external monitor or tv recently? After trying to change the settings (on the NTSC/PAL tried all possible resolutions), finally went to the Genius Bar. I was told that the clamshell mode was not supported for the MB, only for the new MBP (although it worked perfectly on my late 2007 MB!), then he reset the PRAM, but no progress. I can still use the TV only when the MB lid is open. When I close and use the remote to wake the MB up, then the image on the TV starts rolling. The Genius said it might be due to an update, I have 10.5.8. Did anyone have the same issue?

Great tip, I used a mini-DVI/S-video and connected a 2007 Macbook to a Sony projection TV and it worked just fine. Then, a few weeks back, every time I close the lid, the image comes back but it is rolling. Then I need to disconnect the video cable from the TV. I've tried changing the NTSC settings, calibrating and nothing works, except if I keep the lid open. Did anyone experience the same problem recently?

hey Jodee,

turn on mirroring - hit F7 (or fn-F7, depending on your settings). this way your TV will just show whatever your laptop display is showing. no need to drag windows.

bummer about the crack.

OK, I have a question and hopefully you will know what to do. My Macbook screen has cracked so therefore I can't see anything. I hooked it up to my TV but have to drag things over from my computer screen onto the TV screen which always doesn't work. It's a pain... I also need to figure out how to have all my windows open on the TV screen and not the computer screen. So, I would like to be able to see my desktop on the TV screen. Remember, I can't see a darn thing on the computer so I will have to work off the keyboard. Any shortcuts and help with this would be greatly appreciated.
