After almost three years, I have decided to redesign this website. Gone is the chalky blue colour scheme, gone are the sheep gently grazing on the header. Instead, a rather lovely minimalist theme based on Minim by Upstart Blogger.
I hope you like the new look. If you find any bugs, or have any thoughts on […]
My previous post about hacking servos was featured on the Make Magazine blog (link to post) today. Cheers guys!
Hooray for traffic spikes!
So today is Blog Action Day, and the theme this year is Global Warming. Oops, I mean Climate Change. Or, as the organisers themselves diplomatically and non-specifically put it, the environment. “What would happen,” they ask in the catchline of their website, “if every blog published posts discussing the same issue, on […]
Last year I switched my feeds over to Feedburner, and then switched them back after a Wordpress update broke the redirection. Well, I’ve decided to try again, so j4mie.org/feed should now point to feeds.feedburner.com/j4mie.
Again, this shouldn’t make any difference to current subscribers, but my Flickr posts will now be spliced into my blog feed. […]
After breaking bits of my blog the last time I updated Wordpress, I have been holding off updates for a fairly long time now. Today version 2.2 was released, and I bit the bullet and installed it. After one nail-biting moment when the site entirely failed to load (turns out I’d forgotten to […]
I now have a photoblog. It’s essentially a bit of PHP that pulls out the five most recent photos from my Flickr RSS feed that I have tagged with “phoblog”. It looks nice and shiny though.
You can find it at phoblog.org
I’ve managed to fix the permalinks system, but I can’t get the Feedburner feed redirection I set up a few weeks ago to work at all. I can’t work out if it’s something I’m doing wrong with my .htaccess or some incompatibility with the new version of Wordpress (probably the former). So, for […]
I recently upgraded the software running this site (Wordpress) to the latest version (2.0.3). It seems to have somehow broken the permalinks system which allows each blog entry and page to have a “pretty” URL. I’ve disabled the permalinks until I work out what the problem is.
In other news, on Wednesday I had my last […]
I’ve switched over the feeds on my site to be provided by Feedburner. This means I can splice my Flickr photostream with the ordinary feeds for my site. So whenever I post a new photo on Flickr, it will be pushed out to my feeds as well as appearing on my gallery page.
I’ve […]
I have now added a Gallery to my site, powered by flickr and the FAlbum plugin for Wordpress. You’ll also notice a nice “Random Photo” on my sidebar. I’ll try to add photos to the gallery whenever I take interesting ones.
